Internacional 7×1 Santos
Internacional humiliated Santos and delivered the biggest thrashing of Brasileirão 2023. Additionally, the score equaled the infamous 7×1 defeat suffered against Corinthians in 2005, which until then was the biggest defeat in Santos’ history in the Brazilian Championship.
Complete dominance by Internacional was evident from the beginning. In the first minute, Wanderson received a pass from Valencia, easily passed by Lucas Braga, and crossed into the box. Kevyson tried to clear it but ended up scoring an own goal.
The Santos team was completely out of sorts, and the second goal for Internacional came from a bizarre mistake by Dodô. At the 13th minute, Santos’ defender attempted a pass in the defense but gifted it to Alan Patrick, who dribbled past Joaquim and scored a fantastic chip over Vladimir.
At the 26th minute, Wanderson, Maurício, and Valencia executed a good triangulation. The Ecuadorian found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and sent the ball into the back of the net.
At the 29th minute, Santos created one of the few dangerous moments, a classic play by Marcelo Fernandes. After a corner, Joaquim deflected the ball, and Rincón appeared to finish at the far post, but hit the crossbar.
At the 36th minute, Valencia received a through ball behind Lucas Braga, went one-on-one with Vladimir, who made the save. It was Santos’ goalkeeper’s only save in the match.
At the 38th minute, Aránguiz passed to Wanderson, once again exploiting the space behind Lucas Braga. The Internacional forward went one-on-one with Vladimir and scored the fourth goal for Colorado.
In the second half, Inter maintained the pace and increased the lead. Santos, on the other hand, seemed to be sleepwalking on the field. At the 8th minute, Maurício passed to Bustos, who, from outside the box, scored the fifth goal for Internacional.
At the 13th minute, Furch provided a beautiful assist to Marcos Leonardo. The striker shot hard and hit the crossbar.
At the 15th minute, Enner Valencia entered the box, danced past the defense, and struck a powerful shot into the corner, adding the sixth goal for Inter.
At the 29th minute, Pedro Henrique stole the ball from João Basso and passed it to Luiz Adriano. The striker shot weakly in the middle, but Vladimir fumbled, and the ball passed under his arm for the seventh goal.
Santos scored their “honorary goal” at the 34th minute. Caiçara took a corner, and after a scramble, the ball fell to Rincón, who hit the post. Maxi Silvera tapped it in on the rebound.
The humiliation at Beira-Rio was another ingredient in Santos’ chaotic year, ending in their first-ever relegation.

Palmeiras’ emphatic 5-0 victory over São Paulo in the 29th round was the second-largest win in the history of the Choque Rei.
Just 5 minutes into the game, Veiga delivered a beautiful pass to Mayke on the wing. The full-back received the ball and provided a perfect cross to Richard Ríos, who executed a fantastic header. Rafael managed to touch the ball but couldn’t prevent the goal for Palestra. However, VAR intervened, detecting a millimetric offside by the Colombian.
Palmeiras opened the scoring at the 15th minute. In a good triangulation, the ball reached Mayke on the right, who crossed perfectly for Breno Lopes to finish.
Palmeiras extended their lead at the 25th minute, again through Breno Lopes. Richard Ríos played a trivela pass, and the forward shot with his left foot to beat Rafael.

In the 60th minute, Rafinha made a harsh tackle on Breno Lopes, received his second yellow card, and was sent off. In the first half, the full-back had already left his arm on Breno Lopes’ face and received the first card.
At the 83rd minute, Piquerez and Endrick orchestrated a good play on the left. In a lateral-to-lateral cross, Marcos Rocha completed to score Palmeiras’ fourth goal.
Piquerez sealed the victory at the 86th minute. Again, from a lateral-to-lateral play, the Uruguayan received the pass from Marcos Rocha and unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box into the top corner, scoring a fantastic goal.

Corinthians pulled one back at the 66th minute. Giuliano passed to Yuri Alberto in the box, the defense cleared, and on the rebound, Renato Augusto volleyed into the top corner.

Bahia completed the rout with another penalty, again committed by Gil and taken by Thaciano. Ademir dribbled the defender, received a push in the back, and Thaciano scored low, making it Corinthians 1×5 Bahia.
The thrashing was crucial for Bahia to secure their stay in Serie A.

At the 79th minute, Guilherme took a corner, and in a duel with Tite, Basso accidentally directed the ball into his own net.
