At 38 minutes, Lionel Messi replaced Campana, but did little to prevent the rout. With the defeat, the Argentine matched his worst career defeat, which had occurred against Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 Champions League quarter-finals, where Barcelona lost 8-2 at the Estádio da Luz.
