“Records come naturally, as you know. I don’t break records; records chase me,” Ronaldo told RTP.
His first professional goal came in 2002, wearing the Sporting jersey, in a 3-0 win over Moreirense in the Portuguese League.
Cristiano Ronaldo has 131 goals for Portugal and is the highest scorer for national teams. His first goal for Portugal came during Euro 2004, when Portugal was defeated by Greece in the group stage.
His first World Cup goal came in 2006 and was a penalty in the 2-0 win against Iran in the group stage.

Across the 1,238 matches he has played, CR7 has scored 900 goals: 575 with his right foot, 172 with his left, 151 headers, and 2 with other parts of his body.
He has scored 164 penalties, 64 free-kicks, 604 inside the box, and 68 from outside the box.
His highest-scoring year was 2013, when he netted 69 goals.
At the club level, his standout period was at Real Madrid, where he achieved the incredible feat of scoring more goals than games played: 451 goals in 438 matches.
He scored 5 goals at Sporting, 145 at Manchester United, 101 at Juventus, and so far 68 goals for Al-Nassr.
CR7’s biggest victims come from La Liga. He has scored 27 goals against Sevilla, 25 against Atlético Madrid, 23 against Getafe, 20 against arch-rival Barcelona, and 20 against Celta de Vigo.
Asked about the possibility of reaching 1,000 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo prefers to focus on the journey game by game and avoids projecting when he might hit that milestone. He knows, however, that his career is nearing its end.
“It’s tough. I try to implement a positive mindset in my life, enjoying each moment of football because I know it’s coming to an end. I won’t lie, one, two, three more years, I don’t know. It depends a lot on my mindset, my motivation, and my physical condition. As I said, I want to enjoy every moment. I don’t plan long-term anymore; it’s all about the short-term now.”
CR7’s most memorable goals
For the star, the most beautiful goal of his career was his bicycle kick against Juventus in the 2017/18 Champions League. The striker was applauded by the Juventus fans, a team he would join the following season in 2018/19.
In an interview for the program Good Morning Britain, he said:
“It was better than sex. Not with my Giorgina though (he said, laughing). It’s my favorite goal, by far. Technically, it’s difficult to pull off. I tried scoring that goal for many years. I have 700 goals, and I’d never scored one like that. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bicycle kick goal like that. The way I jumped, against Buffon, against Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals. Probably one of the best goals in history.”

That incredible goal didn’t win the Puskás Award, FIFA’s prize for the most beautiful goal of the year, though Cristiano had won the award in 2009 for his goal against Porto in a 1-0 win that secured a spot in the Champions League semi-finals. It was a long-range strike that stunned Helton, reaching 103 km/h and traveling 40 meters before hitting the net.
In 2019, while playing for Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo hit an elevation of 2.56 meters to head the ball and score against Sampdoria in Serie A.
