Victor Osimhen is increasingly close to staying in Turkey: Galatasaray has accelerated negotiations and is willing to pay the full release clause that Napoli has set for foreign clubs — €75 million. A significant sum that will greatly impact the Neapolitan club’s finances. Here’s why.

Napoli, the costs related to Osimhen: salary and amortization
Aurelio De Laurentiis’ club signed the Nigerian striker for a fee close to €80 million. Thanks to the five-year contract signed by Osimhen, the club has accounted for decreasing amortization rates starting from 40% down to less than 5%. Napoli has kept Osimhen on its books for four years since his arrival, and the final yearly amortization now sits at around €1.5 million, regardless of future developments.
Until June 2025, when his loan expires, Osimhen’s salary — around €14 million gross — has been fully covered by Galatasaray. Napoli has only had to bear the amortization cost.
The figures behind a hypothetical sale
This brings us to the release clause De Laurentiis set for foreign clubs, worth about €75 million. The contract also includes a renewal option until 2027 to prevent the striker from leaving on a free transfer. However, according to the latest reports from Turkey, Galatasaray is ready to pay the full amount — a financial breath of fresh air for Napoli, even though the club’s accounts remain solid.
In addition to a significant capital gain, Osimhen’s sale would allow Napoli to immediately reinvest the €75 million, while also freeing the club from a major yearly expense, thereby reducing the wage bill. Furthermore, De Laurentiis would avoid losing the player for nothing.
Osimhen currently weighs on the books for around €2 million in annual amortization, plus a €14 million gross salary. A permanent sale would yield a clear capital gain and increased financial flexibility for a club that has always been budget-conscious.
