Analysis of the Called-up Players
The Brazil National Team coach didn’t completely shake things up with his selections.
The defensive core and midfield are filled with familiar faces wearing the iconic yellow shirt.
However, the Brazilian fans’ disappointment with certain names starts right at the goalkeeping position.
Despite still being key names in the Premier League, Alisson and Ederson are generating some fatigue within the national team.
What many fans argue is that both goalkeepers are very reliable at their clubs, but when they play for Brazil, their saves are often routine. When a shot demands more flair to prevent a goal, the ball tends to find the back of the net.
Testing Bento as the first option could be a positive move.

Moreover, goalkeepers playing in the Brasileirão, such as John, Léo Jardim, and Hugo Neneca, could be alternatives to refresh the position.
Hugo has only been at Corinthians for a short time, but he was already coming off a solid season in Portugal.
As for the full-backs, the choices don’t leave much room for debate, as it’s a position in short supply worldwide. Few national teams have the luxury of boasting top-quality full-backs; Brazil is no exception.
In the centre-back position, the players are of high quality, leaving little room for discussion as well.
Beraldo, at just 20 years old, is undoubtedly a highly qualified and promising player. However, he still needs to adjust several aspects, especially regarding positioning on set-pieces and coverages. At this moment, Brazil can’t afford mistakes.
In any case, he’s likely to be a bench option.
There are no significant surprises in the midfield.
However, out of the six midfielders called up, six are defensive players. Only Paquetá and Rodrygo operate as attacking midfielders.
Considering the attacking history of the Brazil National Team, having another offensive option could be more interesting.
Matheus Pereira, from Cruzeiro, would have deserved a chance, as he’s currently the best midfielder in the Brasileirão.
Andreas Pereira is another player who was doing well in the national team but was left out.
Now, in the attack, there are two pleasant surprises.
The first is Estevão. The Palmeiras gem, already purchased by Chelsea, will make his debut for the greatest national team in the world, at just 17 years old, if he gets on the pitch.
He is, without a doubt, one of the best in his position today. In the Brasileirão, unquestionably. He plays like a veteran and consistently proves his worthiness for the call-up in every match.
Moreover, he’s a player with personality, who takes on opponents fearlessly and isn’t afraid to try something new.
Another fresh face is Luiz Henrique. Bought at a high price by Botafogo, he has lived up to expectations.
Absolutely decisive in Botafogo’s progression to the quarter-finals at the expense of Palmeiras, he is also the key player in the Brasileirão’s top offensive line, where the team is leading, although they have one more game than Fortaleza, the second-placed team.
This type of player is essential for a team lacking in confidence. Brazil needs to get back to playing like Brazil, taking on one-on-one challenges.
Luiz Henrique and Estevão have everything to deliver on that, unlike other players who have had chances, such as Raphinha, but have fallen short in these aspects.
Thus, the Canarinho aim for an immediate recovery in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Do you believe they can achieve that?
