Champions League 24/25 quarter-finals set

The eight teams that have secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the 24/25 Champions League are: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Aston Villa, Bayern, Internazionale, Arsenal, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona 3×1 Benfica

Barcelona secured their qualification with confidence after another victory over Benfica. In the first leg, Cubarsí was sent off in the 22nd minute of the first half, forcing Barcelona to play with 10 men. A stellar performance from goalkeeper Szczęsny ensured a 1-0 win in Portugal.

Back in Spain, Barcelona opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Raphinha, following a brilliant play by Lamine Yamal. Shortly after, Benfica equalized with a header from Otamendi.

Before halftime, Barcelona put the tie to bed. At 27 minutes, Lamine Yamal curled a beautiful shot from outside the box, leaving Trubin with no chance.

At 41 minutes, Balde launched a lightning-fast counterattack and set up Raphinha in the box. The Brazilian controlled the ball and fired a powerful left-footed strike across goal. This took him to an impressive 11 goals in the Champions League, making him the highest-scoring Brazilian in a single edition of the competition.

Barcelona moves forward with authority and will face Borussia Dortmund on April 9 in the quarter-finals.

Inter 2×1 Feyenoord

In the first leg, Inter secured a 2-0 win in the Netherlands, with goals from Thuram and Lautaro Martínez. As expected, they triumphed again, this time with goals from Thuram and Çalhanoğlu, while Moder netted for Feyenoord.

Inter struck early. In the 8th minute, Thuram received the ball on the left, dribbled past his marker with ease, and fired into the top corner, leaving Wellenreuther with no chance.

At 38 minutes, Çalhanoğlu fouled Moder in the box, but the referee initially waved play on. After a VAR review, the penalty was awarded, and Moder calmly converted it to level the game in Italy.

Early in the second half, Beelen committed a blatant foul on Taremi inside the area, and this time the referee pointed to the spot without hesitation. Çalhanoğlu stepped up and scored his seventh goal of the Champions League campaign.

Inter had multiple chances on the counter but couldn’t extend their lead, ending the match with a 2-1 victory.

Inter will take on Bayern on April 8 in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool 0(1×4)1 PSG

In the first leg, PSG dominated Liverpool in France but ran into an inspired Alisson and lost in the dying minutes to an Elliot goal.

The second leg at Anfield was tightly contested, with PSG securing a 1-0 win to take the tie to penalties.

Just four minutes in, Szoboszlai combined well with MacAllister, setting up Salah, but the Egyptian’s shot was heroically blocked by Nuno Mendes.

Minutes later, Salah had another golden chance, but his effort skimmed the post.

PSG broke the deadlock in the 12th minute. Dembélé initiated the attack and passed to Barcola, who attempted a return ball. Konaté intercepted it, but the loose ball fell perfectly for Dembélé to slot into an empty net.

At 17 minutes, Kvaratskhelia set up Barcola one-on-one with Alisson, but the keeper made a crucial save.

Despite PSG’s first-half dominance, Liverpool took control in the second half, only to be denied by an outstanding Donnarumma.

The match went into extra time, but the score remained unchanged, leading to a penalty shootout.

Vitinha and Salah converted their penalties. Gonçalo Ramos, subbed on in the final minute, showed composure to score his. Darwin Núñez was the first to miss, with Donnarumma making a decisive save. Dembélé then scored with his weaker right foot, while Curtis Jones also fell victim to Donnarumma’s heroics.

Finally, 19-year-old Doué sealed the victory, sending PSG into the quarter-finals.

PSG will face Aston Villa on April 9.

Leverkusen 0x2 Bayern

Bayern comfortably knocked out Leverkusen with a commanding 5-0 aggregate victory.

Needing a flawless performance to overturn the 3-0 first-leg deficit, Leverkusen struggled to impose themselves.

The first half saw few clear-cut chances, though Bayern showed slight superiority.

The breakthrough came in the second half. At 52 minutes, Kimmich delivered a free-kick into the box, and after a chaotic sequence, the ball fell to Kane, who had an easy tap-in.

At 71 minutes, Bayern produced a beautiful one-touch passing move. Goretzka found Kane, who teed up Davies, and the Canadian slotted home to book Bayern’s spot in the next round.

Bayern will face Inter on April 8.

Atlético de Madrid 1(2×4)0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid won the first leg 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Rodrygo scoring an early goal.

In the return leg at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Atlético struck in the very first minute. De Paul whipped in a low cross, Giuliano Simeone attempted a backheel flick, and Gallagher slid in to finish.

Atlético dominated the first half and had a penalty appeal waved away after the ball struck Simeone’s arm.

In the 58th minute, Mbappé weaved through the defense and was brought down by Lenglet, winning a penalty. Vini Jr. stepped up but sent his effort well over the bar.

The match went to extra time, where the score remained unchanged, leading to a penalty shootout.

Mbappé, Sorloth, and Bellingham converted their penalties. Julián Álvarez slipped, striking the ball twice, and his goal was overturned via VAR.

Valverde and Correa scored next, while Lucas Vázquez and Llorente missed. Finally, Rüdiger sealed Real Madrid’s place in the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid will face Arsenal on April 8.

Arsenal 2×2 PSV

After a 7-1 thrashing in the first leg in the Netherlands, Arsenal fielded a mixed squad for the return leg at the Emirates.

The Gunners took an early lead in the 6th minute. Sterling played a pass to Zinchenko, who drove forward and curled a left-footed shot into the net.

At 18 minutes, Til played in Perišić, who controlled the ball inside the box and fired into the top corner to equalize.

At 37 minutes, Sterling delivered a perfect cross for Declan Rice to head Arsenal back in front.

PSV equalized in the 70th minute. After winning possession, Driouech found himself one-on-one with the keeper and calmly chipped it in.

With the draw, Arsenal cruised into the quarter-finals and will face Real Madrid on April 8.

Lille 1×2 Borussia

Following a 1-1 draw in Germany, Lille started strongly at home, taking the lead in the 5th minute through Jonathan David.

However, in the second half, Emre Can converted a penalty, and Beier completed the comeback for Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund will face Barcelona on April 9.

Aston Villa 3×0 Brugge

Aston Villa had already secured a solid 3-1 win in Belgium. At home, the match became easier after Sabbe was sent off in the 16th minute.

The English side displayed patience and wrapped up a 3-0 win with two goals from Marco Asensio and one from Maatsen, all in the second half.
