Internacional Draws with Grêmio at Beira-Rio and Clinches 46th Campeonato Gaúcho Title
Internacional secured the Campeonato Gaúcho trophy for the 46th time after a draw against Grêmio at Beira-Rio. The Colorado had not lifted the title since 2016.
Grêmio was on a seven-title winning streak, but Inter put an end to the run and remains the only eight-time consecutive champion in Campeonato Gaúcho history.

Internacional 1-1 Grêmio
In the first leg of the final, played at Grêmio’s Arena, Inter dominated and built a solid advantage with a 2-0 away win, thanks to goals from Carbonero and Alan Patrick.
3’ Alan Patrick delivered a beautiful through ball to Carbonero, who found himself one-on-one with the keeper. The Colombian took the shot, but Volpi made a solid save. However, the assistant referee raised the flag for offside.

17’ Alan Patrick whipped in a dangerous corner, Carbonero got free at the near post but headed wide.
31’ Cristian Olivera broke forward on the counter and fired from outside the box, narrowly missing the target.
49’ Alan Patrick delivered a free-kick into the box, Victor Gabriel flicked it on, Volpi saved, and Vitão headed the rebound just wide. The play was highly controversial, as VAR was called to review a potential handball by Lucas Esteves. However, referee Marcelo de Lima Henrique saw no infringement.

56’ – GOAL! Internacional broke the deadlock with a stunning long-range free-kick from Enner Valencia. The Ecuadorian struck it powerfully into the top corner, sending the Colorado faithful into a frenzy.

62’ – GOAL! Grêmio quickly responded. Lucas Esteves swung in a free-kick, and Wagner Leonardo got ahead of his marker to head the ball into the net. The goal sparked controversy, as the offside line drawn by VAR appeared to be at a questionable angle.
81’ João Lucas launched a long ball to Braithwaite, who muscled off Rogel and struck a fierce shot, forcing a brilliant save from goalkeeper Anthoni.
90’ Vitinho played in Borré on the counter, and the Colombian drilled a low strike, but Volpi parried it away for a corner. However, the play was stopped for offside.
Final moments – Tensions flared as Aguirre and Dodi clashed, resulting in both players being sent off.
With the draw, Internacional sealed the title, breaking their rival’s streak and reclaiming the state championship after eight years.
Inter now holds 46 Campeonato Gaúcho trophies, while Grêmio sits at 43.
