Fernando Diniz’s Debut for the Brazilian National Team
The much-awaited moment has arrived, Fernando Diniz’s debut as the coach of the Brazilian National Team.
As mentioned in previous articles, expectations for Fernando Diniz’s start as the head coach of the world’s greatest team are high.
However, the initial call-up made by the new coach had to be altered. This was because some players were cut due to injuries, namely:
- Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid), replaced by Raphinha (Barcelona)
- Bento (Athlético Paranaense), replaced by Lucas Perri (Botafogo)
Unfortunately, the Paraense fans of the Brazilian National Team won’t be able to enjoy the football of the best Brazilian player of today, Vinícius Júnior.
The Real Madrid forward was diagnosed with a grade 2 muscular injury in his right thigh and will be sidelined.
Bento, on the other hand, was cut due to a muscular injury in the back of his thigh. There was great anticipation to see one of the best goalkeepers in the Brazilian Championship. Highly sought after by European clubs, the Furacão goalkeeper, if he leaves the club, will likely be the biggest transfer of a goalkeeper playing in Brazil, surpassing Rafael Cabral, who was sold from Santos to Napoli in 2013.
Another controversial call-up in the Brazilian media is that of Anthony. The Manchester United forward is under investigation by the São Paulo Civil Police for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Some sectors believe there is a disparity in treatment between Anthony’s situation and Lucas Paquetá, who continues to be investigated for potential involvement in betting schemes.
Some internet users argue that the harm caused by Anthony is infinitely greater. Despite this, he continues to be called up for the first two games of the qualifiers.
Furthermore, let’s briefly analyze the style of call-up promoted by Fernando Diniz.
Apparently, the new coach doesn’t want to experiment. Therefore, with the possible intention of getting to know the squad well, he chose to call up players who had previously been selected and had performed well for the Brazilian National Team at some point.
This would be the most plausible justification for names like Anthony, Matheus Cunha, and Richarlison. Coincidentally or not, all three players were part of the team that won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
In this way, it is understood that Diniz wants to gain the group’s trust, deliver strong performances, and establish himself, in order to later conduct the experiments he desires.

Expectations for the Brazil vs. Bolivia Match
The match, in addition to Diniz’s debut, marks the return of the Brazilian National Team to the Mangueirão, which has been completely renovated.
The most traditional stadium in northern Brazil was reopened this year after undergoing renovations. The stadium, with a capacity of 53,635 spectators, is expected to be packed to welcome Brazil.

With the support of the fans and the need to impress the new coach, it should provide extra motivation for the Brazilian athletes.
There is much talk about Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival at the end of the season, and despite the confirmation by the CBF, not everyone is confident that the Italian will actually take over the coaching role of the Seleção.
Behind the scenes, there is speculation that Fernando Diniz might remain as the coach of the Brazilian National Team, which is why the need to deliver a strong performance is crucial.
Bolivia’s national team, on the other hand, doesn’t have many alternatives for this matchup. Even though the technical gap is smaller than in the past, there is still a significant difference between the two teams.
This is the perfect opportunity for Diniz and his team to put on a great performance, energize the fans, and provide confidence for their continued work.
But the same applies in reverse. Any result other than a victory combined with a solid performance will be subject to harsh criticism.
