July 1st kicks off a month that could reshape tactics and formations across Serie A.
All the top clubs are working to strengthen their squads ahead of what promises to be an unpredictable season, filled with coaching changes, few certainties, and many unanswered questions.
Inter, Calhanoglu dilemma: the Turkish midfielder nearing an exit
Disappointment still lingers at Inter following their elimination from the Club World Cup. While the players enjoy some well-earned rest after a demanding season, Beppe Marotta can now focus on shaping the Inter of the future. The departure of Simone Inzaghi was only the beginning of what could be a period of major change at Viale della Liberazione.
The club must now resolve the Hakan Calhanoglu situation. First came the words of Lautaro Martínez, then Marotta’s statements, followed by social media posts from Calhanoglu’s wife — all signs increasingly pointing to a move to Galatasaray. Those who are unhappy cannot stay, and both Lautaro and Marotta have made that crystal clear. For this reason, Calhanoglu may soon return to his homeland.
Milan, here comes Ricci: a fresh playmaker for Allegri
Meanwhile, the new-look Milan under Massimiliano Allegri is beginning to take shape. The first signing is Samuele Ricci — the deal is all but done. His move to the Rossoneri will bring €25 million to Torino (€23 million fixed fee plus €2 million in bonuses).
Allegri’s approach will be very clear, and the investment in Ricci aligns perfectly with his vision. The Livorno-born coach needs a young, dynamic midfielder who has matured significantly over the past year to help build his new midfield. Quality and quantity, physical strength, aggression — but above all, a player capable of orchestrating the build-up play with simplicity and precision. This will be the foundation of the new Milan.
Transfer market: just getting started — who’s in and who’s out
We’re only at the beginning of what could be a complete reset for both Milan clubs. On both sides of the city, for different reasons, there’s a strong desire for redemption.
Plans are already underway for the tactical structure of two teams eager to bounce back. And everything will start from the midfield — the central hub of any lineup — with the hope of placing the right piece on the board.
