Fluminense 1×2 Flamengo

In the first leg of the final, Flamengo edged Fluminense 2-1.

Just six minutes into the match, Wesley took a shot from outside the box, and Fábio misjudged it, allowing the ball to hit the back of the net.

At the 32-minute mark, Arias had his shot blocked, but the ball rebounded perfectly for him. Face-to-face with the keeper, the Colombian fired with his left foot but struck the post.

In the 42nd minute, Pulgar unleashed a long-range effort, forcing Fábio to push it out for a corner.

Eight minutes into the second half, Gerson led a counterattack and set up Arrascaeta at the edge of the box. The Uruguayan struck it first-time, the ball deflected off the defense, and Fábio made a spectacular save.

Flamengo doubled their lead in the 76th minute. Following a mistake in Fluminense’s build-up, Luiz Araújo found Gerson, who controlled it before playing in Arrascaeta. His attempt was blocked, but the ball fell kindly to Juninho. The striker fired, the ball took a deflection, and rolled slowly into the net.

Fluminense pulled one back in the 88th minute. Fuentes delivered a pinpoint cross, and Keno rose between the defenders to head it over goalkeeper Rossi.

With this result, Flamengo only needed a draw in the second leg to clinch the title.

With just three minutes left in regular time, Juninho outmuscled Ignácio, drove into the box, and squared it for Plata, who placed it into the bottom corner. However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed due to a foul by Juninho on Ignácio.

In the 89th minute, Thiago Silva launched a perfect pass to Keno, who controlled it and struck fiercely. Rossi pulled off a great save, sending the ball out for a corner.

Two minutes into stoppage time, Plata flicked on a header, Juninho reached the byline, and squared it for Michael to tap in. Yet again, VAR intervened, ruling Juninho offside and disallowing the goal.

The match ended goalless, securing Flamengo’s 39th Campeonato Carioca title. Since taking charge of the first team in October last year, coach Filipe Luís has now won three trophies: the Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil, and Campeonato Carioca.
