Internacional defeats Grêmio 2-0 at the Arena, while Galo thrashes América-MG 4-0 at the Mineirão and all but secures the title.

Grêmio 0-2 Internacional

Inter put on a solid display, dominated their rival’s home ground, and by the 26th minute, had already set the tone for the match.

At 10 minutes, Monsalve attempted a dribble inside the box, but the ball fell to Braithwaite, who struck it first-time but sent it wide.

At 20 minutes, Enner Valencia took a dangerous long-range free kick, forcing Volpi into a good save, tipping it out for a corner.

Inter opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Vitinho received the ball down the flank, pulled off a brilliant move past Pavón—who was left on the ground—and played a low cross into the box. The ball found Colombian forward Carbonero, who had time to compose himself and place it into the bottom corner.

Less than three minutes later, Colorado doubled their lead. Bernabéi exchanged passes with Carbonero and delivered a low cross that went through the entire box and found Alan Patrick, who struck it first-time to make it 2-0 for Inter.

At 39 minutes, Braithwaite took a curling shot from outside the box, but it went wide.

At 41 minutes, Bernabéi played a beautiful through ball to Alan Patrick, who set up Enner Valencia. The Ecuadorian, one-on-one with the keeper, completely missed the ball. Luckily for him, the assistant referee had already flagged for offside.

At 46 minutes, Alan Patrick took a dangerous free kick, with the ball just missing Volpi’s goal.

At 13 minutes into the second half, Cristian Olivera latched onto a long pass, cut inside, and fired a shot just past the post.

At 15 minutes, João Pedro whipped in a cross, Wagner Leonardo headed it across goal, Edenílson knocked it down for Gustavo Martins, who struck it from the penalty spot but was blocked.

At 24 minutes, Villasanti laid it off to Edenílson at the edge of the box. He curled a shot that skimmed past the post.

At 43 minutes, Cristian Olivera sent a ball into the box, Luan Cândido got a touch, and it landed for Arezo, who rounded the keeper and slotted it home. However, the Uruguayan was in an offside position, and the goal was ruled out.

At 50 minutes, Wesley led a counterattack on his own, burst into the box, and struck it powerfully. The ball went just wide, nearly sealing the tie.

Inter secured a 2-0 victory at Grêmio’s home ground, putting themselves in a strong position to win the Campeonato Gaúcho—their first since 2016. Grêmio, on the other hand, is chasing their eighth consecutive title, something only Inter has achieved in the competition’s history, between 1969 and 1976.

Atlético-MG 4-0 América-MG

Atlético-MG put on a dominant display, thrashing América-MG at the Mineirão, and now only a miracle can deny Galo the title.

At 3 minutes, Gustavo Scarpa pulled off his trademark move, cutting inside and shooting with his left foot, but Jori made the save.

Galo took the lead at 8 minutes after a shocking mistake by goalkeeper Jori. Cuello played the ball to Arana on the left wing, who whipped in a cross. The América keeper tried to collect it, but the ball slipped between his legs and into the net.

At 14 minutes, Scarpa played a fantastic through ball to Arana, who unleashed a powerful shot that Jori parried away.

At 17 minutes, Everson made an error while playing out from the back, allowing Fabinho to recover the ball and set up Renato Marques, who fired a long-range effort that forced a great save from Everson.

At 23 minutes, Cauan Barros committed a reckless foul on Cuello and was sent off, completely shifting the game’s momentum.

At 32 minutes, Gabriel Menino attempted an olimpico goal from a corner kick, but Jori was alert and punched it away.

At 41 minutes, Galo capitalized on a turnover in the attacking third. Scarpa fed Lyanco, who, playing like a striker, drove into the box and slotted it through the keeper’s legs to make it 2-0.

At 3 minutes into the second half, Lyanco struck again. Gabriel Menino delivered a pinpoint cross, and Lyanco rose highest to head it into the back of the net, scoring his second and Galo’s third goal.

At 18 minutes, Rubens played a fantastic through ball to Rony, who burst forward at pace and finished with his left foot to seal the historic rout.

At 23 minutes, Arana crossed to Rony, who struck the post.

Galo cruised to an easy victory and is now on course to secure their sixth consecutive Campeonato Mineiro title.
