Calcio Deal Review About The Squad
Atlético-MG started the season surrounded by uncertainties and disagreements, thus, despite winning the Campeonato Mineiro, it still seeks to perfect an identity compatible with the ideas of Eduardo Coudet.
The coach came into conflict with the board, after losing to Libertad at home in the Copa Libertadores and, after the match, he complained about the lack of players in the squad and made the position available: “Do what you want”. However, he spoke to the press at another press conference, this time in Cidade do Galo, and apologized for the public demands he made towards his superiors. “I recognize that it was not the moment, I apologized to the president, to the investors, and said that any decision was in their hands”.
On the field, the team has had ups and downs in 2023 and led by the duo Paulinho and Hulk (probably the best player in activity in Brazil), plays in the 4-1-3-2, a scheme that the coach used in his previous jobs, such as Internacional and Celta de Vigo.
Argentine ‘Chacho’ Coudet applies a fast, vertical team to the game with strong pressure on the opponent. Construction begins with the defenders finding the midfielders by attacking the back of the defense or looking for the attackers. The full-backs skewer like wingers and the first defensive midfielder joins the defenders in a line of 3 to start the plays. When they lose the ball, they apply post-loss pressure and high marking to recover and attack the rival as quickly as possible.
With a highly qualified squad and a competent commander, Galo is a candidate for Libertadores, and could surprise in the title race.
