Calcio Deal Review About The Squad
Despite a promising start to the year, Grêmio did not have an encouraging start to the Brasileirão. The team lacks speed players, so Renato Gaúcho has the team in the 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1, in which the midfield players work with a lot of closeness and quick touches, leaving the corridor open for the full-backs reach the baseline to cross.
The ball exit is performed by several midfield players, who return to assist the defenders. The team’s engine is the young Bitello, who occupies several positions on the field, exchanging short and quick passes with Vina and Cristaldo. The Argentinian is a set-piece collector, has good finishing, in addition to great ability to make assists, especially for “El Pistolero” Suárez. The Uruguayan had an overwhelming start to the year, but as the season progressed he is not being as effective.
Due to the lack of speed players, the team struggles to counterattack and exert pressure on the opposing team, therefore it values possession of the ball and control of the game.
In this way, considering that the team fluctuates a lot, it can frustrate the fans’ expectations, so the Calcio Deal places Grêmio as a candidate for a vacancy in the Libertadores.
