Chelsea 0-2 Manchester City

Manchester City, last season’s champions, achieved an unprecedented feat in over 100 years of English top-flight history, winning the Premier League for the fourth consecutive time.

In the season opener, as expected, City defeated Chelsea.

Manchester City took the lead in the 18th minute with Haaland, the top scorer of the last two Premier League seasons. Doku drove towards the box, Bernardo Silva slightly flicked it, and the ball reached Haaland, who beat two defenders and slotted it past Robert Sánchez.

In the 37th minute, Doku won the ball in attack, tried his luck from outside the box, and Sánchez made a good save on a deflected shot.

At the 44th minute, Palmer struck from outside the box, Ederson parried it away, and Jackson buried the rebound, but the Senegalese was offside, and the goal was disallowed.

In the 61st minute of the second half, Gusto whipped in a cross, the defense partially cleared it, and Lavia headed it towards the goal. Jackson took a first-time shot from close range, and Ederson made a brilliant reflex save.

City sealed the win in the 84th minute with a stunner from Kovačić. The Croatian won possession in the attacking half, advanced on his own, and placed a shot perfectly into the corner.
