Flamengo 0x2 Botafogo and 4th round of the Brasileirão

Botafogo Brasileirão

The Botafogo achieved a spectacular victory over Flamengo in the derby and ends the round as the leader of the Brasileirão.

Other games had surprising results, such as Corinthians’ 3-0 win over Fluminense and Criciúma’s thrashing of Vasco, resulting in the dismissal of coach Ramón Díaz.

Flamengo 0x2 Botafogo

Botafogo played a mature game, maintained their good form with Artur Jorge, defeated Flamengo, and jumped to the top of the table.

In the 3rd minute, Flamengo had a good collective play. Arrascaeta crossed to De La Cruz, who headed it down and Luiz Araújo shot near the post, with great danger.

In the 10th minute, Fabrício Bruno shot across goal and Bruno Henrique flicked it, but the forward was in an offside position and the goal was disallowed.

Vasco 0x4 Criciúma

Vasco suffered a humiliating defeat to Criciúma at São Januário, which led to the dismissal of coach Ramón Díaz immediately after the match.

Vasco started threateningly. In the 12th minute, Hugo Moura crossed and the Argentine headed dangerously, near the post.

In the 31st minute, Bolasie won the header and the ball fell to Fellipe Mateus. He advanced and struck a bomb into the corner, opening the scoring for Criciúma.

In the 36th minute, Vegetti crossed low and the ball reached Payet. Near the small area, the Frenchman controlled it and hit the post.

In the 42nd minute, Vegetti was fouled in the box. He took the penalty himself but was stopped by goalkeeper Alisson, who made an important save.

Two minutes into the second half, Bolasie crossed and the ball reached Fellipe Mateus, who controlled it and struck it with his left foot, scoring his second goal of the game.

Cuiabá 0x3 Atlético-MG

Galo won comfortably against Cuiabá at Arena Pantanal, with a great performance from Paulinho. Despite the 3-0 scoreline, the visitors had a goal and a penalty annulled by VAR.

Atlético-MG opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Paulinho crossed and Vargas, with a header over the goalkeeper, scored the goal.

Six minutes into the second half, Scarpa crossed perfectly for Vargas. The Chilean headed alone, inside the small area, but sent it wide, missing an unbelievable chance.

In the 15th minute, Scarpa surprised, taking a free-kick under the wall and scoring a beautiful goal.

In the 30th minute, Vargas was fouled in the box and won a penalty. Paulinho took it with great class and added to the final score.

Bahia 1×0 Grêmio

Bahia defeated Grêmio with a spectacular goal from Everaldo. The match was marked by Renato Gaúcho’s request for his players to leave the field, at 46 minutes of the second half, after referee Bráulio da Silva Machado sent off forward Diego Costa, who criticized the refereeing team in the technical area.

Bahia dominated and created the main chances during the first half.

In the 16th minute, Éverton Ribeiro passed to Everaldo in the box, who left Kannemann on the ground and shot into the top corner, leaving no chance for debutant Rafael Cabral.

In the second half, Grêmio improved while Bahia created their opportunities on the counterattack. In the 24th minute, Biel passed to Everaldo in the box, who shot first-time, and Rafael Cabral made a spectacular save.

Cruzeiro 3×1 Vitória

Cruzeiro imposed itself and overcame Vitória at the Mineirão. All goals came in the second half.

Corinthians, coming from a bad phase, achieved a surprising victory over Fluminense, dominating the opponent from start to finish. Wesley Gassova had a stellar performance, scoring two goals.

Corinthians was very attentive to Fernando Diniz’s style of play and scored their first goal, stealing the ball in the attacking field. In the 39th minute, Mosquito dispossessed Cano, and the ball fell to Wesley, who dribbled past a defender and shot into the corner.

In the 46th minute, Hugo regained possession, and the ball ended up with Wesley. The jewel left Manoel and Felipe Melo on the ground with sharp cuts and shot into the net, scoring an iconic goal.

Early in the second half, Corinthians scored the third goal. Garro crossed into the box, and Cacá headed it home.

Fortaleza 1×1 Bragantino

Fortaleza and Bragantino, in a balanced match, drew 1-1 at the Castelão.

Fortaleza opened the scoring in the 9th minute. The young Venezuelan risked a shot from outside the box, Cleiton touched the ball but couldn’t prevent the goal.

Bragantino equalized in the 40th minute. Gustavinho took a corner kick, Nathan Mendes deflected it, and Sasha, with great skill, headed it past João Ricardo to level the score.

Juventude 1×1 Athletico-PR

Juventude opened the scoring early in the game, tried to close up, but couldn’t prevent Nikão’s goal, on his return for Athletico-PR.

In the 8th minute, Lucas Barbosa received on the right and passed it back. Erick Farias controlled it and shot with his left foot into the top corner to open the scoring.

Athletico-PR equalized in the 27th minute. Esquivel crossed into the box, Nikão deflected it, and the ball slowly entered the goal.

Internacional 1×1 Atlético-GO

Internacional only managed a draw with Atlético-GO and missed the chance to share the top of the table with Botafogo.

In a first half with few emotions, both teams failed to score.

Four minutes into the second half, Derek dribbled Mercado, found himself one-on-one with Rochet, and chipped it delicately, with great skill, to break the deadlock.

Inter equalized in the 10th minute. Wesley crossed perfectly, and Borré headed powerfully to level the score at Beira-Rio.

Inter pressed, created plenty of chances, but couldn’t secure the victory.

São Paulo 0x0 Palmeiras

São Paulo and Palmeiras played a uninspired game at Morumbi. With the draw, both teams remain in the bottom half of the table.

Palmeiras had the best chances of the match, being thwarted by São Paulo’s outfield players.

In the first minute of the second half, Flaco López found himself one-on-one with Rafael and passed to Endrick. The youngster controlled it, shot, and Alan Franco made the “save”. The assistant referee then raised the flag.

In the 10th minute of the second half, Endrick stole the ball from Arboleda inside the box and passed it to Lázaro. Alisson made the “save” with his feet and cleared the danger.
