Sheffield United 0-6 Arsenal

Sheffield United, the bottom-placed team with only 13 points, had the tough task of stopping the high-flying Arsenal at Bramall Lane. However, the London side showed no mercy and delivered a huge win.

Arsenal had their first dangerous chance in the opening minute. Saka surged down the right, entered the box, and crossed to Rice, whose shot was blocked, and Saka’s rebound hit the crossbar. Martinelli then attempted, but a defender cleared it off the line.

The Gunners opened the scoring at 4 minutes. Martinelli passed to Rice, who crossed to Ødegaard, unmarked, to tap into the net.

Arsenal dominated possession with almost 80% and doubled their lead at 12 minutes. Saka easily bypassed the defense, entered the box, and delivered a strong cross, resulting in an own goal by Bogle.

The third goal for the Gunners came on the counter. At 14 minutes, Martinelli advanced, exchanged quick passes with Kiwior, and left-footed shot deflected off the defense, leaving goalkeeper Raya helpless.

With the early 3-0 lead, some Sheffield United fans were already leaving the stadium.

At 24 minutes, Martinelli stole the ball in the attacking half and was fouled, but the referee played advantage, and Havertz had plenty of space to curl a left-footed shot, marking Arsenal’s 4th goal.

For the second half, Sheffield’s coach, Chris Wilder, made 3 changes to try to minimize the damage. Meanwhile, Arteta substituted Saka (the best player so far) with Fábio Vieira.

At 12 minutes, Jorginho’s through ball found Havertz, who controlled superbly, evaded the defense, and passed to White, who smashed it home for Arsenal’s sixth goal.

With the victory secured, Arteta made several changes in the second half. Brazilian Gabriel Jesus replaced Martinelli, who left the field supported, unable to put weight on his foot.

Gabriel Jesus had a chance to score at 36 minutes. He initiated a counter, exchanged passes with Havertz, and placed a shot from inside the box, but goalkeeper Grbic made a great save.

With the thrashing, Gunners maintained the best defense in the Premier League and now had the best attack, surpassing Liverpool.

The numbers were so impressive that in the last 3 games, Arsenal scored 17 goals without conceding any. With this dominant run, Mikel Arteta’s team broke a historic record in the Premier League. Arsenal became the first team in English football history, across all four divisions, to win three consecutive away games by a margin of 5 or more goals.

In the next round, Arsenal faces 15th-placed Brentford on Saturday. On Sunday, league leaders Liverpool and Manchester City clash at Anfield, home to Jürgen Klopp’s team. If there’s a draw between the top two and Arsenal wins their match, they’ll end the round at the top of the Premier League.
