Botafogo lost to Cuiabá at home and saw Palmeiras, who beat Bahia, close the gap in the fight for the Brasileirão title.

The championship leader, Botafogo, had complete control throughout the game, yet failed to convert any goals. Cuiabá, on the other hand, in a counterattack breakout, scored their winning goal with Isidro Pitta.
At the 30th minute, Luis Henrique combined with Tiquinho Soares and struck a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but Walter made a great save.
At the 36th minute, Júnior Santos executed a fine individual play, and the ball fell to Eduardo. The midfielder found himself one-on-one with Walter, but the goalkeeper made a spectacular save.

In the last play of the first half, Cuesta received a header pass from Júnior Santos and scored in the small box. However, the goal was disallowed as the ball hit the Argentine’s arm.
Cuiabá opened the scoring early in the second half on a swift counterattack. At the 6th minute, Luis Henrique attempted a dribble in the attacking field and lost possession. Denílson quickly launched Pitta with pace. Lucas Perri came out of the goal and tried to intercept, but the ball hit the forward and rebounded towards the goal. Di Plácido slid in with a tackle against Pitta, and the ball found the net.
