Rondo Reports and Calcio Deal Analysis
Sweden finally has its own midfield prodigy in Lucas Bergvall. The neighboring countries, Norway and Denmark, have already produced their own superstar playmaking midfielders like Odegaard and Eriksen, but Sweden may have found its answer to that.
In most countries, it is expected that the most prestigious academy is associated with one of the most successful teams. However, the most successful Swedish academy at the moment took a long time to reach the top flight, which is IF Brommapojkarna. It is there that talents like Dejan Kulusevski and Viktor Gyokeres were discovered, and now Lucas Bergvall, despite having recently left the club. The club is located in Stockholm.

They invested heavily in youth development with some of the best coaches and facilities in Europe, always trusting their players in the first team and providing that pathway. Now, they have started to reap the rewards of this investment by being promoted to the top division.
However, Bergvall is probably their best talent in recent years and is a joy to watch. He is a highly versatile midfielder, capable of playing as a number 8 or number 10 with the ball at his feet. He exudes elegance on the field, leaving a strong first impression. His passes are almost caressed, always precise. He enjoys having many touches on the ball in midfield and dictating the game.
He seems to know when to keep the game flowing and when to break lines, which is impressive for someone so inexperienced. Being a tall player, he can take long strides and almost gallop ahead of other midfielders, often carrying the ball from the middle third to the final third and attempting to create something.
Moreover, his footwork is exceptional, allowing him to manipulate the ball away from opponents with great dexterity, making it appear as if he has more time than he actually does.
His first touch is always into space. Appearing to have time on the ball is always a great sign of a top-level midfielder, especially for such a young and physically developed player.
He holds his own in duels and manages to shake off opponents.

However, we believe that he can improve his speed to become even more physically dominant when trying to get away from players.
We also hope to see him become a bit stronger, as there are moments when he gets knocked off balance. We believe he has the potential to be a highly complete midfielder.
His shooting is also decent, although it’s an area he can work on.
He often takes up intelligent positions around the box where he could score some goals. This is worth highlighting.
It’s necessary for Lucas Bergvall to be more incisive and involved in the final third, as he has a relatively low goal involvement for his position on the field, although this is perfectly understandable and can be reversed due to his young age.
Defensively, he is also quite strong. He anticipates passes in the midfield well, leading to intelligent interceptions.
And as a playmaker, he is a good presser, which is vital in the modern game.
This whole Swedish generation is truly impressive, with players like Roony Bardghji, Hugo Larsson, Jardell Kanga, and of course, Alexander Isak and Dejan Kulusevski.
They have the potential to become an incredibly exciting team in the coming years. The investment that Scandinavia has made in its youth academies is truly paying off, and Lucas Bergvall is just another example of this wave of Scandinavian talent.
