The match started slow and tactical, and the first dangerous chance came at the 15th minute with Marcos Leonardo’s goal. After a steal in the attack, Lucas Lima passed to the number 9, who evaded the defender and placed it in the left corner past Tadeu.
Santos extended their lead at the 29th minute, once again with top scorer Marcos Leonardo. The play began with goalkeeper João Paulo’s long pass to João Lucas, the right-back advanced and crossed the ball at waist height, and the center forward found the back of the net.
At the 33rd minute, Goiás threatened with a beautiful shot by Zé Ricardo. The midfielder struck it into the top corner, João Paulo deflected it onto the crossbar.
At the 39th minute, Goiás reduced the lead with Guilherme Marques scoring from a penalty kick. Kevyson fouled Maguinho in the box, and after a VAR review, the referee awarded the penalty. The midfielder struck it powerfully to the left corner and converted.
In the 45th minute, Santos extended their lead with a counter-attack. Marcos Leonardo won the ball, advanced, and played a through pass to Mendoza, who sprinted with great speed, went one-on-one with Tadeu, and placed it in the bottom left corner of the goal.
In the second half, Esmeraldino (Goiás) pulled one back once again through Guilherme Marques at the 15th minute. With his right foot, he smashed a long-range shot.
Goiás equalized through an aerial play at the 35th minute. Guilherme took the corner kick, and João Magno headed it at the near post, beating the Santos goalkeeper.
At the 44th minute, Luan Dias delivered a free-kick into the box, and Bruno Arleu controversially awarded a penalty for the collision between Halter and Joaquim. The VAR, disagreeing with the decision, called the referee, who went to the monitor but upheld his position. Mendoza struck the penalty with power, into the right corner, leaving Tadeu no chance, sealing the final score.
